1 Many people identify with their disease or condition. For example, if a person has MS, they want others to do things for them. They might not consciously admit it but that is what they are doing. What you should ask yourself is, “What benefits do I receive by letting others know what I have?” It could be simply as that they get more attention.
2 If a person has chronic headaches, it’s usually because there is some trauma behind it; they are suppressing that and a headache takes its place. In other words, it’s more painful to address the past trauma than having the headache; the headache blocks out the past event.
